GETTING FORMATTING of COLOR and IMAGES into NOTE TEMPLATES in Patient RecordsTM

Tripp Bradd, MD - July 12, 2007

You can add formatting to your notes and to other sections of the chart that you would need images (such as logos) by using tables in the NOTE TEMPLATES.  Please see the steps below.  Obviously, I have not gotten verification of more in-depth testing from Practice Partner so that I cannot really tell you if this is "okay" to do in Patient RecordsTM.  This is with version 9.2.1 of Patient RecordsTM.

  1. Open Word (This has worked with WORD 2002 and WORD 2007 so far)
  2. Insert a table (I don’t think Patient Records really works with greater than 4 columns)
  3. Go to Borders (in table properties) and remove the borders.
  4. SAVE as a DOC file (heck, so you can use it later).  You can save it as a *.docx file if Word 2007.
  5. Here is where you can add background color to the cells of the table or format it.
  6. images can be pasted (as long as the image is within a table) and I found that the images seem to transfer better if they are in a GIF format (BMP not as nice)
  7. Select the table.
  8. COPY the table.
  9. Got To Patient RecordsTM
  10. PASTE it into a New TEMPLATE
  11. You can then use the template in any text section of the chart which can import note templates

Below are two examples of how an image (Example1) and then the how coloring (Example 2) can be added to templates:
